Student of the Month

Read Elisabeth's answers to our interview questions:

  Q: Tell us about you.
A: I am 10 years old, and will be in fifth grade in the fall. In my family I have my Mom and Dad, two brothers, a dog, and two cats.

Q: How long have you played golf?
A: I have been playing golf since I was about three, but have taken lessons for four years.

Q: What made you begin to play golf and why do you continue to play?
A: I first started because my whole family played, and then I really liked it and it was fun to play.

Q: Why do you take lessons?
A: I take lessons because I love my teacher, and she helps me get better to improve my game.

Q: What do you enjoy most about golf?
A: I like being out on the golf course, and I enjoy all parts of the game.

Q: What is the best part of your game?
A: My long game, especially my fairway woods.

Q: What is the worst part of your game?
A: I have been working on my putting.

Q: Who do you enjoy playing golf with?
  A: Linda!

Q: What are you trying to improve with your lessons?
A: My short game, and keeping score and learning all of the rules.

Q: What's in your golf bag?
A: Taylor made driver and irons. Cobra 5 wood, and Nike 7 wood. My favorite club is my 5 wood.

Q: What was your most memorable golf round?
A: I played at Drumlins and shot a 51. My long game and putting made it the best game that day.

Q: What is your favorite golf hole?
A: Drumlins East Course -- the 16th hole

Q: Who is your favorite golfer?
  A:  Angela Stanford, Suzy Whaley

Q: What interests do you have besides golf?
A: Swimming, basketball, softball, soccer, dance, choir and piano.

Q:  How long have you worked with Linda?
  A: 4 years

Q: What was your favorite golf lesson?
A: My favorite lesson was when I was having trouble getting my new club to go in the air when I hit it. Linda made up a story like a fairy tale with a princess who could make something go up and touch the stars, and then I could hit my ball to touch the stars.

Q: Why do you take lessons from Linda?
A: Linda makes it easier to understand things by comparing your picture in her computer to other pictures of professional golfers. She always makes lessons fun by playing games and explaining things with words that I understand. We do different things like go on the golf course sometimes and have contests, and she always stops by the snack bar!
