Read Erin's answers to our interview questions:

  Q: Tell us about you.
A: I'm fifteen and I'm a sophomore at West Genesee High School. I love to swim and play golf. My favorite band is Rascal Flatts, and I like to read.

Q: How long have you played golf?
A: My first memory of golf in general goes back to when I was probably five or six. My older sister and I were in the backyard with a few golf clubs. I accidentally hit her and she hauled off and smacked me with one of our little metal clubs. I guess I've always been around golf but I first took it seriously when I was about 10 or 11.

Q: What made you begin to play golf and why do you continue to play?
A: My parents have always played so I kind of grew up around the sport. We're members at Tuscarora so it has always been available to me. I continue to play because it's addicting. You have a good round but there's always things you can do better. It's not an easy sport to quit.

Q: Why do you take lessons?
A: I take lessons because I know that there will always be things about my game that will bother me but I don't know how to fix them. Golf is a really individual sport, but that doesn't mean that you don't need advice from other people.

Q: What do you enjoy most about golf?
A: I think the most enjoyable part of golf is playing with people that love it as much as you do. It's such a fun sport when you can enjoy it with someone else.

Q: What is the best part of your game?
A: The best part of my game is probably chipping and pitching. Still, you can always improve on every part of your game.

Q: What is the worst part of your game?
A: I would say the most challenging part of golf is putting. Every course's greens are different, and you have to slow down and take your time on every putt. I've learned this through missing way too many one footers.

Q: Who do you enjoy playing golf with?
A: I love to play golf with my friend Lauren Hopkins, who was also on the golf team with me this year. She always knows how to make me laugh and shake it off when I have a bad shot.

Q: What are you trying to improve with your lessons?
A: I'm always working to improve every aspect of my game, but right now, it's mostly my putting.

Q: What's in your golf bag?
A: My irons are Tommy Armour 845s. I have an Adams driver, and my favorite club is a 22 degree Nike wood. I can hit it from anywhere.

Q: What was your most memorable golf round?
A: My best round of golf was probably at Radisson this year at sectionals. I had a bad practice round so I went into it really nervous, but I ended up taking off 9 strokes from my practice round. It wasn't the best golf I've ever played, but I had a lot of fun with the girls I played with.

Q: What is your favorite golf course?
A: My favorite golf course, even though I didn't play very well there, was Seven Oaks. My favorite hole there was number ten.

Q: Who is your favorite golfer?
A:  My favorite professional golfer is Davis Love. Probably about three years ago he had an amazing sand shot that when he first hit it looked like it was way off, but he had read the green perfectly and it rolled all the way down and went in the hole. It was probably the best shot I had ever seen and ever since then I've really liked him.

Q: What interests do you have besides golf?
A: I love to swim in the fall. I like swimming and golf a lot because you can be a member of a team but it's still really individual. You have no one to blame but yourself and you depend on yourself to get results. What you put in is exactly what you take out.

Q: How long have you worked with Linda?
A: I've been working with Linda for a really long time. I've gone to all of her summer camps and I've taken lessons with her for the past two years over the winter.

Q: What was your favorite golf lesson?
A: My favorite lesson was the one that I took right after I had gotten my Nike club. At first I couldn't hit it and then she changed one thing in my swing an all of a sudden I was nailing the back of the golf dome. It was a great feeling because I had never hit a club like that before.

Q: Why do you take lessons from Linda?
A: Linda's lessons are so valuable because she explains things in a way you can understand. Watching your swing back on the computer is so helpful because you can actually see what it looks like and how you can fix it.
