Balancing Act
! |
|
Have you ever found yourself out of balance as you
finished your golf swing? Oftentimes this can be avoided prior to
the motion, during the set up phase of your golf swing. An
“athletic” stance will allow us to move freely with minimal
disruption to the foundation of the swing. Think in terms of a
building and how important the foundation is to the overall
structure. A simple part of this stance
can be created by the placement of your feet as you address the golf
ball. A slight flare of your left foot, keeping your weight on the
inside of your legs is a sure remedy to help you feel more connected
to the ground. This positioning of your feet will allow better
rotation of the hips and legs in your backswing, and more
importantly in the follow through! |
| Try this simple test. Have someone
stand with their feet straight out as in photo #1 below.
Then come up beside them and give them a slight push. Notice
how easily they lose their footing and come off
balance.
 |
|
|
| Now have them flare their feet slightly
as in #2 and try giving a small push again.
You'll find a big difference -- and
the person is only in a static position !

Imagine now the force created by swinging a golf club on uneven terrain on a
golf course and the picture should become very clear.
Developing your own
"balancing act"
as a part of your pre-shot routine is a must for good golf! |
|
Good luck and remember practice
makes permanent. |
